How to determine the value of pasture rent?

Pasture land is highly variable across the country and within provinces, Manitoba Agriculture has some calculators and resources to help determine values that can be used when creating rental agreements:

  • Use the Beef Cow-Calf Production Costs resource under the Livestock heading to better understand the cost of owning pasture, or to compare the economics of different pasture systems. This calculator includes the full cost of five different pasture systems.
  • Use the Pasture Rental Rate calculator under the Land, Fence & Buildings heading to determine pasture rent based on land value and a set rate of return. Enter your own values for information customized to your situation.
